Postpartum IOP & Perinatal Day Treatment in Massachusetts

postpartum IOP Massachusetts

Specialized Mental Health Support for Mothers During Pregnancy & Postpartum

Motherhood can feel incredibly isolating when emotional overwhelm, anxiety, depression, trauma, or burnout begin affecting daily functioning.

Many women are told to simply “ask for help,” but the reality is that weekly therapy alone may not always provide enough support during periods of significant emotional distress, nervous system dysregulation, or postpartum mental health challenges.

At SOLEO Wellness, we provide specialized postpartum Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) and perinatal day treatment for women across Massachusetts through integrative, wraparound maternal mental health care designed specifically for pregnancy and postpartum.

Our goal is to help mothers access more structured support while remaining connected to their babies, homes, and existing support systems.

SOLEO Day offers both virtual and in-person programming for women during pregnancy through the first two years postpartum.

What Is a Postpartum IOP?

A postpartum Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a higher level of mental health support for mothers who may need more care than weekly outpatient therapy alone can offer, while not requiring inpatient hospitalization.

Many women entering a postpartum IOP are experiencing:

  • increasing anxiety or depression

  • emotional overwhelm

  • intrusive thoughts

  • trauma symptoms

  • postpartum OCD

  • burnout

  • difficulty functioning day-to-day

  • feelings of isolation or disconnection

Unlike inpatient treatment, mothers participating in an IOP are able to remain home with their babies and families while receiving structured therapeutic support multiple days per week.

At SOLEO, our perinatal IOP and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) were created specifically for the realities of pregnancy and postpartum.

Who May Benefit From Perinatal Day Treatment?

Women may benefit from postpartum IOP or perinatal day treatment when they:

  • Need more support than weekly therapy

  • Feel emotionally overwhelmed or unable to cope

  • Are struggling with postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, or trauma

  • Feel isolated or disconnected

  • Are having difficulty functioning in daily life

  • Need more structure, accountability, or community support

  • Are transitioning from inpatient hospitalization or acute stabilization

  • Want specialized maternal mental health care in a baby-inclusive environment

  • Need intensive support while remaining in their home environment

Many mothers delay reaching out because they believe they should be able to “push through” or because they do not feel “sick enough” for higher levels of care.

At SOLEO, we believe mothers deserve support before reaching a crisis point.

How SOLEO Day Supports Mothers

SOLEO Day combines evidence-based clinical treatment with holistic, relationship-centered support in a calm, specialized environment designed specifically for mothers.

Our postpartum mental health programs may include:

  • Therapist-led process groups utilizing CBT, DBT, and IFS-informed approaches

  • Individual therapy support

  • Medication management when clinically indicated

  • Nervous system regulation and mindfulness practices

  • Holistic support including meditation, sound therapy, and nutrition

  • Community connection and maternal support

  • Collaborative care coordination with outpatient providers

  • Baby-inclusive programming and optional baby support

We understand that postpartum mental health challenges impact the entire nervous system — not just thoughts or emotions.

Our goal is to help mothers feel more supported, regulated, connected, and emotionally safe during one of the most vulnerable transitions of life.

Virtual Postpartum IOP Across Massachusetts

SOLEO now offers fully virtual postpartum IOP and perinatal day treatment programming across Massachusetts.

Virtual care can be especially helpful for mothers who:

  • Are unable to travel consistently

  • Are recovering physically postpartum

  • Have childcare limitations

  • Feel overwhelmed leaving the house

  • Live outside the Boston or South Shore area

  • Need increased flexibility while accessing support

Our virtual postpartum mental health programming maintains the same clinical structure, therapeutic support, and intentional community-building as our in-person care.

A Higher Level of Support — Without Leaving Home

One of the most difficult realities for many mothers is feeling like their only options are:

  • struggling alone
    or

  • hospitalization.

SOLEO Day was created to help bridge the gap between weekly outpatient therapy and inpatient psychiatric care through specialized maternal mental health treatment designed specifically for pregnancy and postpartum.

We often work with mothers who are still “functioning” outwardly while internally experiencing:

  • racing thoughts

  • panic

  • emotional shutdown

  • overstimulation

  • intrusive thoughts

  • chronic overwhelm

  • exhaustion

  • feelings of hopelessness or fear

Many women tell us:

“I didn’t realize this level of support existed.”

Insurance + Access to Care

We work with most major health plans and are deeply committed to helping mothers access care, including offering scholarship support and flexible pathways for families experiencing financial or insurance-related barriers.

Our team works closely with families to help navigate insurance coverage, referrals, and next steps for care.

You Do Not Have To Navigate This Alone

Postpartum mental health challenges are incredibly common — but many mothers continue struggling silently because they are unsure where to turn or whether they “deserve” additional support.

At SOLEO, we believe mothers deserve compassionate, specialized care that supports both their emotional well-being and their nervous systems during pregnancy and postpartum.

If motherhood feels heavier than expected, support is available.
